This early 20th century brooch features 3 vibrant dragon's breath glass cabochons in a gold metal setting, c-clasp closure. The setting is likely base metal, but has not been tested.
Dragon's breath glass is an art glass; it was made by adding metal to molten glass, and the exact the formulation has been lost to time. True dragon breath glass is transparent, and has no foiling. When light hits the glass at different angles, the orange/peachy glass displays red and blue vaporous flashes, known as the “breath” from which the name is derived.
Era: 1910-1920
Size: 1.5"; side cabs are approximately 11mm x 8mm and central cab 15mm x 10mm

Condition Notes: Condition is good to very good; glass cabs are not scratches and display the desirable "dragon's breath" qualities collectors love. The cabs are just slightly loose, albeit very secure in their settings. Please note this hand wrought brooch shows some solder marks to the reverse.
